When passion collides with expertise, some of the world’s most beautiful cars come to be. Mike McKee’s LT4-powered 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS fits the bill. The gorgeous red car with a black vinyl roof was on HOT ROD Power Tour for the third time in 2018, but this was its first trip with the Chevrolet Performance LT4 crate engine, which McKee installed last year. In just about 12 months, he and his wife Angela – who happen to celebrate their anniversary during Power Tour – have amassed over 11,000 miles.
We are cruising down Woodward Avenue during the yearly gathering on the famed stretch of road in Detroit. Spectators lining the street on this Saturday afternoon point at our rumbling vehicle and give us a thumbs up. Then the car’s owner and driver, Ernie Miyamoto, flips a switch and the body of his 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle lifts off the frame to reveal a Chevrolet Performance ZZ572/620 crate engine.
The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE has only been in production for just over a year, but it is already quite accomplished. The LT4-powered muscle car is the fastest production Camaro to ever lap the famed Nürburgring with a blistering time of 7:16.04.
Welcome to Flashback Friday, also known as #FBF. This is where we revisit the very best articles from years past that are still relevant. We’ll show off some old favorites such as feature cars, racing coverage or even new part releases. We comb through our archives and if we say something along the lines of, “Wow. That was a great story.” there’s a good chance it will make its way into our #FBF series. This week, we take a look at Ken Kelley’s bagged ‘66 Chevelle, powered by a Chevrolet Performance LS3 crate engine . This is one of those cars that, if you don’t own one already, makes you want to build your own pro-touring monster.
We know that much of the country is covered in snow and ice right now, but it’s never too early to begin thinking about racing and show season -- and planning those vacation days for road trips to events you’d like to attend.
For this week’s Wallpaper Wednesday, we’re spotlighting one of Chevrolet Performance’s workhorse fleet vehicles: the 1978 K10 Silverado. After making the Long Haul during this year’s HOT ROD Power Tour, the Silverado re-appeared for this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
This month, Chevrolet Performance is offering a mail-in rebate* on its valve covers. Here at The BLOCK, that got us thinking about some of the most beautiful engines we’ve seen this year. Valve covers often provide the perfect finishing touch with a pop of color or chrome.
Across the country, the LS3 crate engine from Chevrolet Performance is found under the hoods of race vehicles, show cars and projects. With such a large presence, it makes perfect sense that the LS3 was the most-clicked crate engine on ChevroletPerformance.com in 2018.
Whether you love to cruise with the windows down, hit the strip, or navigate cones on the autocross circuit -- or a little of all three -- with spring around the corner it’s almost time to get back behind the wheel. We’ve featured a wide variety of unique vehicles and their interesting owners on The BLOCK over the years, and we’ve decided to revisit a few to help put you in the mood to Go Driving.
Summertime is fast approaching and we’re gearing up for road trips, car shows and racing. To help enthusiasts like us prep for this summer’s driving season, Chevrolet Performance is currently offering deals on transmissions and other drivetrain components until June 30. The program includes a $200 mail-in rebate on Chevrolet Performance transmissions and a $50 mail-in rebate on all Chevrolet Performance transmission controllers or torque converters.*
