The all-electric drag car, built by Hancock and Lane, continued to make history earlier this month during the NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. At that venerable track, the eCOPO made a pass in the nine-second range, posting a 9.837-second e.t. at 134.07 mph in the quarter mile. School teacher Patrick McCue was behind the wheel.
The eCOPO concept car utilizes an 800-volt battery pack and an electric dual motor stack from BorgWarner. It makes 750 horsepower and 600 lb-ft torque at 9,000 rpm. Much more about the eCOPO and the 50th anniversary of the COPO Camaro is available here.
To celebrate this historic achievement by the game-changing eCOPO, we’ve made one of our favorite burnout shots featuring the car from last fall’s SEMA Show this week’s Wallpaper Wednesday. A mobile version of the image is available in our Instagram story @theblockdotcom, while the desktop image can be downloaded below.
Keep watching The BLOCK for much more COPO coverage throughout 2019.
