Hight claimed the Wally trophy from the NHRA FallNationals just two weeks after a wild win in St. Louis. He now has 45 career victories and increased his points lead in the Countdown for the Championship as he looks to claim his second consecutive title in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
During the FallNationals, Hight qualified No. 6 and turned in four straight runs in the 3.9-second range to defeat all opponents, topped off with a 3.955-second pass at 325.69 mph in the final round.
The win was Hight’s fourth at Texas Motorplex.
“I made a prediction early on going into the Countdown that I needed to win three races and not have any first-round losses. So far so good. We are halfway through the Countdown and we have two wins and a semifinal,” Hight said. “We have to keep pushing all the way to Pomona where it is points and a half. Anything can happen. We have to keep pushing.”
John Force Racing and Team Chevy have now claimed a total of nine Funny Car wins this season. Congratulations to both on a stellar season thus far as they push for yet another championship.
